Here are 3 things that you must know about meeting women:

Im doing an assignment and im finding it really hard to find much information on the subject.
So far i have:
Men and Women’s roles were greatly divided,
Men – more public roles, portrayed as heroic
Women – more private and focused on domestic sphere, very feminine.
In art:
Men – angualr and sculpted, heroic looking
Women – Feminine, nude, roman and greek goddess like, soft and curvy skin.
Any other points you may know? or links that actually do have good info ? xxxxx

the role of men was to fight wars and the role of women was to take care of the family.
I think it is important to emphasise that although women may have been considered to belong in the ‘domestic sphere’ many women in fact would have had to work for a living whether they liked it or not. There would have been large numbers of women employed as servants, for instance, and a great many would have worked as seamstresses, or as spinners, or as washerwomen or in the retail trade. Midwives usually had an important role in the local community. Wives often assisted in their husband’s businesses (for example Benjamin Franklin’s wife Deborah Read Franklin ran all his business concerns while he was in Europe). Widows often continued to run family businesses after their husbands died (for instance Betsy ross ran the successful family upholstery business for 50 years after her husband died).
Even some upper class women who were impoverished had to work, usually as teachers. some women earned a living through writing. There were some women artists, like Marie Vigee Lebrun for example, who painted the French royal family very often. And of course there were women who made a name for themselves on the stage.
