If man is more than just an animal how come the Alpha male syndrome is so prominent in our society?

Need help with women?
Here are 3 things that you must know about meeting women:
1. You must learn to act with complete and total confidence... Even if you aren't naturally confident around women, it CAN be learned, and a lot faster than you might think.
2. You must understand how women REALLY think, and what it takes to build REAL attraction Read more...
Females also display this syndrome as well.

We’re not more than animals, and anyone who thinks that is deluding themselves. Need proof? Rape, murder, war, assault, abuse, etc. If we were better than animals we wouldn’t engage in any of that crap, but we do…so we’re not.
Alpha male syndrome (as you call it) is part of every mammal’s biological heritage and can’t be cured. It’s something we just have to learn to live with and control.
The answer is: fraternities, Affliction brand clothing and that song "boots with the fur with the fur."
Humans borrowed many strategies from the animals they observed. Since humans clearly use many different strategies to find mates, signal relationship to others, and so forth, it is obvious that not one of them is "instinctual" as they are in animals. Each animal behaves according to its instinctual nature, but humans use strategies that they have learned from observation, trail and error, and direct teaching. What you call an "alpha male" sounds to me like a pompous ass.
If man is just an animal, why is there such a tremendous gap between us and the rest of the animal kingdom? Why have no other species evolved to this level? I mean, why not talking snakes and donkeys? I don’t have the answer either, but I don’t think your point is valid.
