If lily and Rufus weren’t ready to have a kid, shouldn’t he be much older? In episode five after the wedding Rufus says that it took them 20 years. Does that make Scott 20? 19? If Dan is 18, how does this work?

Lily and Rufus dated before they both married other people but we don’t really know how long before. Since Scott is apparently 20 we can only assume that they did have a sexual relationship 2 years before Dan and Serena were bored. I’m pretty sure what happened was they had sex and then Lily’s mom tricked Rufus into leaving and then when Lily she found out she was pregnant she just gave the baby away and never told Rufus because he had moved on.
