How long should it take a 12 year old girl to run the 800m dash?

Need help with women?
Here are 3 things that you must know about meeting women:
1. You must learn to act with complete and total confidence... Even if you aren't naturally confident around women, it CAN be learned, and a lot faster than you might think.
2. You must understand how women REALLY think, and what it takes to build REAL attraction Read more...
My daughter is 12 years old and she is running the 800m for her track meet. She made it to her school track team but she’s afraid she won’t make it to the district meet – she got 3:53, is that good? And if not, could you please recommend some tips on running the 800m for a 12 year old girl?

When I was about 12-13 I ran around 4.02, now I’m aged 14, grown about 6 inches in one summer, and run 2.15.
What I wouldn’t worry about too much is your daughter’s times now – a lot of girls are physically mre developed and therefore much stronger, this makes a huge impact on times.
I’m in a full-time coaching programme, and I am already benefitting from the results, however a few years ago I was unknown.
Often girls who are amazing now, burn out, the toll of running hard every day on growing muscles/bones is too hard on them physically and later on they cant train as hard through injury illness, and other minor ailments. At the top-end of the running athletes, most of them have been pushed to the limit by parents/coaches – this is not the way to go, and the athletes often end up injuring themselves through training far too hard for that age.
However, your daughter sounds like she has motivated herself – and she should be proud to get to this meet, what she should focus on is running her own race, and attempting to whittle down those times. I would thoroughly recommend joining a running club as they usually hae several different leagues available to run in througout the summer (an cross-country in winter) and hold training nights between 2-4 times a week. This is very beneficial as it gives you a sense of confidence when you begin to race, and that is what you need – this in turn carries you to further success.
Wish your daughter the best from me, and hope she enjoys the day.
Thanks,
Lorenzo
