I’m a single 21 year old man. I want to go to the bar and pick up older women, but I’m completely new to the bar scene. How do I do this?

The best way to approach a woman in a club or a bar is to make sure you are dressed impeccably. Although first impressions are often misleading, it will ultimately determine if she speaks to you or not; for example a woman is more likely to take interest in a man if he is dressed to the nines than if he is wearing a tee-shirt and jeans.
Also, make sure you aren’t impaired. Nothing is more annoying than a drunken fool lavishing his sloppy attentions on you. Not only that, but you might not realize when she is giving you the “go away” signals if you are too intoxicated. If she is giving you the signal, it is time to lay off. She obviously wants nothing to do with you and it is time for you to move on.
Approaching a woman is easy, as long as you exert the right amount of self- confidence and leave the corny and often highly disgusting pickup lines behind you. Say hi, and start by saying “I couldn’t help but noticing you across the room.
Would you like to dance?” Or something along those lines. Do NOT offer her a drink until about an hour into it, and only if she is interested.
After you introduce yourself, compliment her on something small, like the way she talks. Do not compliment her on her body, because this can be misconstrued as you hitting on her in an un-gentlemanly way. You want to be polite and friendly. Do not place your hands on her lower back- this is basically saying that you want sex, and if you want her attentions this is a huge no-no. The best place to put them is the skinniest part of her back- this place is not too far up and not too far down, and it lets her know that you are interested, but have the decency not to be a pig.
After you “hook” her, it is up to you to go from there. Make conversation, ask her about herself, and act natural and not stiff. No one can tell you how to act after this, so just let things go their natural course. You now have your chance with this woman, and that is the biggest part of the night.
